An investigation is under way in Avoca, Co Wicklow, following the discovery of a body.
The body of 48-year-old Brian Doyle was found at around 9.15pm last night on the main street in Avoca.
It is believed that Mr Doyle, who was from the area, died in violent circumstances outside Fitzgerald's pub.
He had been having a few drinks in the pub and stepped outside for a cigarette.
A dispute arose between a number of people and Mr Doyle was punched in the head and he fell to the ground.
A woman who was driving through the village alerted gardaí to the body.
Gardaí are treating the death as suspicious and say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
All access to Avoca village has been restricted.
AA Roadwatch said the restrictions will affect traffic travelling to and from Woodenbridge, Rathdrum and Aughrim.
