A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of another man at the weekend in Co Derry.

Michael McLaughlin, who was aged 24, and came originally from Toomebridge, was stabbed at a flat on the Hillhead Road in Castledawson on Sunday evening.

At Magherafelt Magistrates Court this afternoon, Leon Johnston, who is also 24, from Ballydugennan Villas in Toomebridge, Co Antrim, was remanded in custody by the district judge.

He is due to appear again by video link on 8 September.
