A 36-year old man has been before Cork District Court charged with having a loaded sawn-off shotgun at a pub in the city a fortnight ago.
Anthony O'Leary, Liam Healy Road, Fairhill, Cork was charged with having the weapon at the Mo Chúisle bar on Blarney Street, Cork on Friday 21 May.
It was reported at the time that an armed man in the pub was shot in the stomach by a member of the armed Regional Support Unit and taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment for his injury.
Solicitor Donal Daly was appointed to represent Mr O'Leary on legal aid after he told the court that the defendant was not working.
Inspector Michael McGuire applied to have the defendant remanded in custody until 10 June for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
There was no application for bail.
The defendant had his right arm in a sling in court and he was not required to speak during the brief hearing.
The charge accuses him of having in his possession a firearm, namely a Baikal double-barrel sawn-off shotgun loaded with two cartridges, with intent to endanger life, cause serious injury or damage property at Mo Chúisle public house on 21 May.
