Independent Kerry County Councillor Danny Healy-Rae has been discharged from hospital after an incident on Saturday in which he and a second man were injured.
The men received their injuries during a row over a disputed right-of-way which borders their farms.
Danny Healy-Rae is the eldest son of Independent South Kerry TD Jackie Healy-Rae. He is also a successful politician in his own right, topping the poll in the Killarney area to win election to Kerry County Council in 2009.
On Saturday at around noon, Danny Healy-Rae was erecting posts for gates at this disputed right-of-way on the Kenmare road just outside Kilgarvan.
The laneway borders Danny Healy-Rae's farm and a farm owned by the family of Con Traynor.
During an altercation, Danny Healy-Rae and Con Traynor were injured.
Gardaí and a doctor were called and the two men were removed in separate ambulances to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee. Both have since been discharged.
Mr Traynor declined to comment today, while Danny Healy-Rae's brother Michael refused to go into detail about the incident.
The incident is now the subject of an investigation and all five people present will be interviewed by gardaí.
While the incident is not regarded as being particularly serious, a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions who will decide if charges are to be brought.
