Gardaí in Co Meath are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in Rathfeigh, near Duleek.

Gardaí were contacted at around 3pm this afternoon.

The remains have not yet been identified.

Gardaí say the discovery was made by a farmer in a ditch on the edge of a field.

There was no identification on the body and the remains may have been there for some time.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau and staff from the State Pathologist's Office have examined the scene and a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.

The scene remains sealed off.
