An army bomb disposal team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device at an address in Glenmore Park, Ballyboden last night.
The team arrived on scene at 11.20pm in response to a request by gardaí.
A viable device was made safe at the scene and removed for further examination.
No controlled explosion was carried out and the scene was declared safe at 12.15am.
Gardaí are examining the device as part of their investigation into the incident.
