Belfast - Four men due in court later today

The PSNI has been forced to intervene during a confrontation in the public gallery of Belfast Magistrates Court as four men appeared in the dock jointly accused of perverting the course of justice.

There was a confrontation involving two men in the public gallery when police were forced to intervene to remove one of the men involved.

The magistrate left the court while the disturbance was being dealt with.

The accused, who are in their late 20s and early 30s, were arrested in Carrickfergus in Co Antrim yesterday by members of the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch.

A fifth man who was also arrested during the same police operation has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
