A 27-year-old man is in a critical condition after being shot and seriously injured in an incident in Southill in Limerick this morning.
A man and a woman have been arrested and are being questioned about the incident.
A row broke out between two men outside a house in the O'Malley Park Estate shortly before 8am this morning.
It is understood one of the parties then produced a gun and a number of shots were fired.
A younger man received a number of wounds and was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle, where his condition is described as critical.
It is understood he is being treated for injuries to his kidneys and liver.
A man in his 40s and a 20-year-old woman were both arrested.
The man is being detained at Roxboro Garda Station.
The woman was arrested for questioning for a number of public order offences.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident and have asked anyone with information to contact them at Roxboro Garda Station on 061-214340.
