Bomb-making equipment found in Dublin this morning is being investigated by gardaí.

The discovery was made in Paul Street near Smithfield in the city centre after gardaí searched a house in the area at about 7.30am.

The area was sealed off and the army bomb disposal team were called to the scene.

The team examined the objects and gave the all clear just before 10am.

A spokesperson for the Defence Forces said the items included bomb-making material, but no explosives were recovered.

The spokesperson said the material could have been used to make a small number of bombs.
