A man has been charged in connection with the death of 24-year-old Frankie Heneghan in Kiltimagh on Wednesday morning.

The 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning and is being held at Swinford Garda Station.

He is expected to appear before a special sitting of Casltebar District Court at 10.30am tomorrow.

The 24-year-old father of three died from multiple stab wounds following an incident in a laneway at the rear of the town's Main Street.

Gardaí had been questioning two men in connection with his death, but one man was released earlier today.

During the day, gardaí continued a detailed search of the area where the fatal attack took place and conducted further house-to-house inquiries in the town.

Gardaí say they have received a great deal of valuable information from the public following an appeal for witnesses.
