An armed gang has escaped with a small amount of cash after holding-up the Arklow Bay Hotel.
Five men armed with iron bars and hurleys carried out the raid at around 5am this morning.
Brian Brennan of the Brennan Hotel Group, which operates the Arklow Bay Hotel, said the night porter was confronted initially by the raiders.
He said a number of guests who were in rooms near the reception area came to investigate the commotion. They were tied-up and locked in one of the fridges in the main hotel kitchen.
The gang were only able to get access to the float in the reception area and not the main safe due to security in place.
The raiders were in the hotel for about 30 minutes.
They made their escape in a 4x4 stolen from the car park.
