A woman in her 20s has been killed in a road accident in Co Tipperary.

The accident, involving a car and a lorry, happened near the village of Kilsheelan shortly before 10pm.

The road between Kilsheelan Village and the Merck Sharp & Dohme factory will remain closed overnight.

Earlier, a 23-year-old woman died in a crash on the M51 in Co Meath.

The single-vehicle collision happened at around 3.15am at Curleyland, Athboy.

The woman was fatally injured after she lost control of the car and it collided with a ditch.

She was the sole occupant of the car.

Her body was removed to Navan General Hospital.
