The former partner of a Co Antrim woman, who was killed 14 years ago, has been charged with her murder.

49-year-old William Mawhinney from Cambridgeshire in England is accused of murdering 36-year-old Lorraine Mills in Ballymena in May 1995.

The mother-of-two was found dead at her home at Staffa Drive in the Ballykeel estate.

Mr Mawhinney was remanded in custody to appear again at a later date when he was brought before Ballymena Magistrates' court today.

He had been arrested in Cambridgeshire on Monday by PSNI detectives working with local police.
