Figures from the Standards in Public Office Commission show that the State provided political parties with funding of €13.7m last year.
The parties shared €5.6m under the Electoral Acts and €8.1m in Party Leaders Allowances.
In addition, each Independent TD got an allowance of €41,000, while each Independent Senator got €23,383.
The funding cannot be used for electoral or referendum purposes.
It has to be accounted for in statements to the Standards Commission, except for the Independent TDs and Senators, who do not have to provide Statements of Expenditure.
Fianna Fáil received €5m, Fine Gael €4.3m and Labour €3.1m.
Sinn Féin received €800,000, the Green Party €740,000 and the Progressive Democrats €450,000.
The Standards in Public Office Commission is an independent body established in December 2001.
