Two people have died after separate road accidents in counties Antrim and Cavan.

In Antrim, a man in his 70s was killed in a road accident in the village of Ballynure at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

A woman, also in her 70s, who was travelling in the same car, is in a serious condition in hospital.

It is understood their car was in collision with a flatbed truck.

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses.

And a 35-year-old woman died in hospital last night following a car accident near Belturbet, Co Cavan, two days ago.

The woman was the driver of a car which collided with a van at 7.45am in Kilduff.

She was taken to Cavan General Hospital where she died last night as a result of her injuries.

The driver of the van and two passengers - all male - were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
