43-year-old Clive Butcher has been charged today with the murder of 28-year-old Rebecca Hoban in Ranelagh.
Ms Hoban, a mother of one, was stabbed a number of times at a flat on Ranelagh Road in south Dublin last Wednesday night and died shortly after arriving at St Vincent's Hospital.
The flat was used to accommodate homeless people in Ranelagh.
Mr Butcher was arrested at the scene and has been detained for the past two days at Donnybrook Garda Station. However, he is now remanded to Cloverhill Prison.
He will appear at Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday morning.
