Five people have been charged with aggravated trespass after protestors caused major disruption to flights at London's Stansted Airport yesterday.
More than 40 others remain in custody this morning.
Another seven people have been released on bail.
A total of 52 flights were cancelled at Stansted in Essex when an environmental group broke through the perimeter fence in a bid to raise awareness of the potential environmental impact of the airport's expansion.
Members of the Plane Stupid group broke into a secure area at around 3am yesterday morning, forcing the runway to remain closed for three hours.
Ryanair called for an investigation into why airport operator BAA failed to keep the airport 'secure and open', saying the disruption to passengers was unacceptable.
