The runway at London's Stansted Airport has reopened following a protest by climate change activists.
However, there were still delays and long queues at the airport this lunchtime following the cancellation of 56 flights by Ryanair.
Police arrested 57 people after they breached the perimeter fence and chained themselves together in a secure area about 50m from the runway.
The protest was against British government proposals to expand Stansted and increase the number of flights.
Members of the Plane Stupid group broke into a secure area at around 3am this morning, forcing the runway to remain closed for three hours.
Ryanair has called for an investigation into why airport operator BAA had failed to keep the Essex airport 'secure and open', saying the disruption to passengers was unacceptable.
Ryanair has posted details of its flight cancellations on its website.
