Three men have been charged with terrorism offences over an alleged plot to assassinate British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Ishaq Kanmi, 22, Abbas Iqbal, 23, and Ilyas Iqbal, 21, were charged with a series of terrorist offences this afternoon.
The men, two of whom are brothers, are all from Blackburn.
Mr Kanmi was charged with soliciting murder, belonging or professing to belong to al-Qaeda, inviting support for al-Qaeda, and dissemination of terrorist publications.
Police sources indicate that the charge of soliciting murder refers to an alleged plot to murder the British Prime Minister.
Abbas and Ilyas Iqbal are both charged with possession of an article in circumstances which give rise to a reasonable suspicion that possession is for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.
Abbas Iqbal is also charged with dissemination of terrorist publications.
The three will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow.
