A 16-year-old boy has died in a road crash on the N61 near Listowel, Co Kerry.
He has been named as Matthew O' Connor of Dromtrasna, Collins, Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick.
The accident happened at around 2am this morning when a car lost control and crashed into a ditch in Bunghara, about 4km from Listowel on Tarbert Road.
Two of the three people in the car were taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee where the boy was pronounced dead.
The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
Elsewhere, a pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck by a vehicle on the N80 Wexford Road just outside Carlow town at 7.30am.
The 61-year-old woman was taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny where she was pronounced dead.
Gardaí are investigating the incident. The road has been reopened.
