Citigroup - New jobs announced

US banking company Citi is to create up to 150 jobs in Belfast bringing its workforce in Northern Ireland up to 850.

The company is to lease office space in the Titanic Quarter, where Dublin-based company Harcourt Developments is the major developer.

Citi is part of financial services giant Citigroup, which has a presence on both sides of the border.

The facility in Dublin's financial services centre has been in place for ten years. In 2004 it set up a base in Belfast.

Like many US banks, Citi has felt the impact of the sub-prime lending problem in recent months.

Today's announcement was welcomed by the North's Economy minister, Arlene Foster.
