The winning ticket in last night's record-breaking Lotto jackpot worth almost €19m was bought in Carlow town four days ago.
The single winning ticket was a €32 multidraw Quick Pick bought in Hickson's supermarket on the Staplestown Road on Wednesday last.
The co-owner of the store, PJ Hickson, says rumours are abounding as to the identity of the winner.
'The list is endless about where it's coming from and who won it,' he said. 'I think anybody that even drives off early this morning somewhere for the day is being considered.
'Early on this morning there was about six different estates or areas of the town mentioned and there's another two or three after being added to that, so we genuinely don't know. There's loads of different rumours and nothing concrete yet,' he said.
The winning ticket holder has three months to collect their prize of €18,963,441.
It is estimated that more than 3,500 people bought a ticket every minute during peak time in the run up to last night's draw.
The jackpot had rolled over for 16 draws since 3 May.
