A man has died following a collision on the N13 Letterkenny to Ballybofey road in Co Donegal this afternoon.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision at about 4.30pm, a Volkswagen Passat and a Bus Éireann bus on a regular run from Derry to Donegal Town.
The Passat was travelling from Ballybofey to Letterkenny and the bus was travelling in the opposite direction.
Following the collision the bus, which was fitted with seatbelts, turned over on its side in a field.
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Donegal man, was pronounced dead at Letterkenny General Hospital.
There were 30 people on the bus. 28 were students of the Royal and Prior Secondary School in Raphoe, two of whom were treated for minor injuries in Letterkenny General Hospital. The other 26 were removed to hospital as a precaution but are not thought to be injured.
An elderly woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the bus driver was uninjured.
The road at the scene of the crash remains closed while gardaí carry out a forensic investigation and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.
Anyone travelling between Ballybofey and Letterkenny is asked to detour via Lifford.
