A construction worker remains in a critical condition in hospital following an accident at Dromoland Castle in Co Clare.

Two men were injured in the incident yesterday. They were working with a gas burner sealing a window on the first floor at the back of the hotel when there was an explosion.

Both men are being treated at University College Hospital in Galway for burn injuries.

One of the men is in a critical condition, while the other is said to be stable.
