Two men have been arrested in Limerick following a shooting in the St Mary's Park estate early today.
Shots were fired at the front door of a house in St Munchins Street at around 6am.
During the arrest of the two men, a sawn-off shotgun was recovered.
Last night up to 50 gardaí, involving armed detectives and members of the Emergency Response Unit, and a number of Garda dog units, searched the park area as part of an ongoing operation to combat the criminal activities of feuding factions in the city.
They uncovered up to €100,000 worth of heroin and cocaine, a firearm and ammunition.
The ERU was deployed to Limerick following last Tuesday's attack on six houses in the St Mary's park.
The unit has been providing back up to the existing armed patrols in an effort to curb violence and gun crime in the city.
