Two men and a woman have been arrested following the seizure of heroin in Co Meath.
Gardaí and customs officers recovered 10kg of heroin worth over €2.5m, as well as €250,000 in cash, as part of a joint investigation.
Following a surveillance operation, officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit stopped and searched a truck and a van in Trim, Co Meath.
They discovered the cash and drugs hidden in the truck.
It was taken to Dublin Port for a specialist search where the full extent of the seizure was identified.
Two men, aged 28 and 39, were arrested at the scene. They are being questioned at Kells Garda Station. A 25-year-old woman was also arrested in Lucan and is being questioned at Ronanstown Garda Station.
Gardaí believe a number of drug traffickers have lost money after collaborating and investing in this substantial quantity of heroin.
