Two men in their 30s and a teenage boy have been charged with the murder of John Mongan in west Belfast last Thursday.

36-year-old Edward Stokes and 32-year-old Christopher Stokes, both from Derry, were jointly accused of murdering Mr Mongan.

Edward Stokes was further charged with causing grevious bodily harm to Mr Mongan's pregnant wife Julia, who was also attacked during the incident.

A 15-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons was also accused of Mr Mongan's murder.

There was uproar in the court when the three defendants were brought into the dock with relatives of the dead man shouting abuse at the accused and throwing plastic bottles and cups at them.

One of the accused then made a cut-throat sign to the relatives of the dead man.
