Gardaí in Co Louth say the Marsh Road in Drogheda has been closed following a serious road accident.

It is understood the road will be closed for several hours.

There are no further details at this stage.

Last night, a 27-year-old man was killed in a road accident near Dundalk in Co Louth.

He was the driver of a motorcycle which went out of control and crashed in Ballybarrack near Knockbridge Road in Dundalk at around 9pm.

The man's body was taken from the scene to Louth County Hospital.

Gardaí from Dundalk Garda station are investigating the collision.
