Two men have died after separate road crashes in Co Tipperary and Co Kildare.

One man died following a collision outside Roscrea early this morning.

Two other people were taken to Nenagh General Hospital following the crash. They are in a stable condition.

The accident happened in Ashmere on the main Roscrea to Templemore Road at around 8am. It is understood three trucks and a car were involved.

Meanwhile, a 51-year-old man has died following a hit-and-run collision last night in Co Kildare.

Timothy Duffy of Clonkeen, Carbury, was struck by a vehicle as he walked along the road near Derrinturn in Carbury at around 8.30pm.

Mr Duffy was taken to Naas General Hospital where he died at 3.30am this morning.

The scene was being technically examined and the road between Carbury Cross and Derrinturn was due to re-open this afternoon.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Derrinturn area between 8pm and 9pm last night, or anyone with any information, to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730.
