Post mortem examinations are to be carried out on the bodies of two women killed following a car accident in Co Tipperary.

The women, both aged 58, died as a result of a four car pile up on the N7 at Ballinakill, Roscrea yesterday evening.

The women were back seat passengers in the car and both were taken to Nenagh General Hospital from the scene of the collision.

One woman died in Nenagh and the other was transferred to Limerick Regional Hospital where she died this morning.

The collision happened in Ballinakill on the N7 Dublin to Limerick road at about 6.10pm yesterday evening.

Six other people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
