The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Joseph Kabila, has sacked the country's transport minister after yesterday's air crash in which 38 people were killed.
Mr Kabila's spokesperson said that Remy Henri Kuseyo Gatanga was dismissed because he was 'incapable of organising the aviation sector'.
The Conogolese cabinet met to discuss the tragedy and consider ways of toughening air safety regulations such as improving inspections and setting tougher penalties for offenders.
The dead included 20 passengers and three Russian crewmembers on board the Russian-made cargo plane which crashed onto houses in the capital, Kinshasa.
The death toll is expected to rise further as residents report missing relatives.
At least 30 people had already been killed this year in six plane crashes in the war-torn country.
