A woman and a seven-year-old boy are in a serious but stable condition in hospital following a road accident near Croom in Co Limerick yesterday evening.

Three other people were also taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick after the crash, which involved two cars.

The woman and child were on foot when one of the cars spun out of control and hit them.

The accident occurred at Rourke's Cross on the main Limerick to Charleville road around 5.30pm.
