Gardaí have named the victim of last night's fatal stabbing in Dublin.
He was 28-year-old Alan Nolan from Cedarbrook Walk in Cherry Orchard.
He died following a knife attack at an apartment in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot shortly after 6am this morning.
A post mortem examination has taken place on the body of the dead man and it confirmed that the cause of death was as a result of a stab wound.
A second man is in a stable condition following emergency surgery at St James's Hospital.
The scene was sealed off and members of the Garda Technical Bureau began their examinations while gardaí conduct house-to-house inquiries.
A thirty one year old man is continuing to be questioned by gardaí in connection with the incident.
