A new survey from the Central Statistics Office says that employment has grown by almost 4% in the second quarter of 2007.
The Quarterly National Household Survey indicates that more than 2.1m people are now in employment.
Foreign nationals account for 53% of the increase in employment, according to the report. The CSO says that more than 239,000 foreign nationals are employed in Ireland.
The survey also indicates that growth in the construction sector is moderating. There was a 6.7% increase in the second quarter of this year, which was 4% down on the first quarter.
