A voluntary committee set up in Co Donegal has announced that it is going to buy a breast-screening machine and build a community cancer clinic.
The not-for-profit organistation says it is fed up with the delays in providing cancer services to the Co Donegal where currently, they say women have to wait for up to two years for a mammogram.
The North West Wellness Centre Committee says it will have breast screening available to women in Co Donegal as early as next spring. It then aims to build a community cancer clinic within three years and has already had an 11 acre site donated for the purpose.
Members of the committee visited a cancer clinic in Pennsylvania in the United States and will base their project on it.
All funds will be raised voluntarily and any profits made will be re-invested back into the cancer services.
