The victims of yesterday's fatal road accidents in Dublin city and Co Galway have been named.

81-year-old Michael Ryan from Charlemont Court in Dublin 2 died in the accident in the Whitefriar Street area of Dublin city.

Mr Ryan was a pedestrian who was hit by a truck at around 10am yesterday morning.

Kevin Donnellan of Carrownagappul, Mountbellew, Galway died in the crash at Clonbrock, Ahascragh.

His car crashed into a tree at around 6am yesterday morning.

And the two women killed in yesterday's multi vehicle crash in Co Kilkenny, have been named as Mary Lonergan, 49, from Kellymount in Paulstown and Vanessa McGarry, 31, from Butler's Grove in Gowran.

Mrs McGarry was the wife of Kilkenny hurler James McGarry.

The GAA has postponed this Sunday's All-Ireland hurling quarter finals as a mark of respect.
