A 23-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of two motorcyclists in Co Kerry last year.

Thomas O' Regan, from Newcastlewest in Co Limerick, was also charged with driving without insurance and drink driving.

Mr O’Regan appeared before the district court at Castleisland, Co Kerry near to where the accident occurred in June 2006.

31-year old Kazimierz Kawa and 32-year old Marek Olszowka were returning from an international Harley-Davidson rally in Killarney when their motorcycles were involved in a head-on collission with a BMW car.

The two Polish nationals were living and working in Hertfordshire in England and were making their way to Dublin to get the ferry back to the UK at the time.

Both were killed in the collision and their bikes became fused into one by the heat of the fire which engulfed them.

Today at Castleisland District Court, Judge James O'Connor adjourned all charges against Thomas O'Regan.

A book of evidence will now be prepared and the case is likely to go to trial in the Circuit Criminal Court.
