Police in Malta are investigating two new claims of sightings of the missing British girl, Madeleine McCann.

A spokeswoman for Malta Police said that a local woman and a British man had come forward separately last night, reporting that they may have seen the four-year-old.

The new claims came on top of at least 13 other possible reported sightings in the island's capital, Valletta, and five other locations.

Police have ruled out one of the possible sightings in Malta which was recorded on a mobile phone.

Madeleine disappeared 51 days ago from the holiday apartment where she was staying in Praia De Luz in Portugal.
