The man whose body was found was found in a freezer unit at the back of a fishmonger's shop in Galway has been identified.

However gardaí say they will not release the name of the 51-year-old man until all his relatives have been contacted, which could take a number of days.

The death is being treated as murder, although the cause of death has not yet been established.

A post mortem examination is to take place tomorrow.

Gardaí are still refusing to give any information on the nature of the man's injuries.

A team of 50 gardaí are involved in the murder investigation and a special incident room has been set up at the divisional headquarters at Mill Street in Galway.

Several lines of inquiry are being followed, but so far there have been no arrests.
