Fianna Fáil said today that it would be maintaining contact with the Green Party over the next few days about the formation of a new Government.

However, the Green Party has insisted that while its door is open, its participation in a new coalition would have to reflect real change, and the party would not be considered merely as ‘just numbers added on’.

Elsewhere, Sinn Féin's Ard-Chomhairle met in Dublin this morning to discuss the General Election campaign and the formation of the new government.

The meeting took place at the party's head office in Parnell Square.
