A man in his 20s is being held in connection with the deaths of two women in a road accident in west Dublin last night.
A section of Kylemore Road between the Bluebell Avenue and Landen Road junctions, which had been closed, is now reopened.
The two women, who are believed to be French nationals in their early 50s, were walking at the time of the accident.
They were part of a group which had arrived from France only yesterday and was staying at the Sheldon Park Hotel.
Three of the party had gone for a walk shortly before 11pm when the accident happened.
Emergency services were called but both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
