Army bomb experts have dismantled an improvised explosive device in Dublin.

The device was found by gardaí during the search of a house in the west of the city yesterday evening.

It has been described as a pipe bomb and was found in an upstairs room at the house in the Wheatfield Grove area of Neilstown.

It was said to be viable but not primed to go off.

A number of items have been retained for forensic examination.
