Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with the discovery of a live mortar bomb in Co Armagh earlier this month.

The bomb was discovered close to the Dublin to Belfast railway line at Cornakinnegar Road in Lurgan.

23-year-old Damien William McKenna from Dean's Walk in Lurgan and Gary Toman, aged 22, from Drumnamoe Avenue, Lurgan, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Both men faced three charges for possessing an improvised explosive device, conspiracy to murder members of the security forces and possessing articles that could be of use to terrorists.

The two were remanded in custody to appear again on 10 May.
