An 18-year-old man has appeared before Dundalk District Court following last weekend's road accident which claimed the lives of two people just outside the town.
Daniel O'Riordan from Point Road, Bellurgan in Dundalk, was remanded on bail following his brief appearance at the court.
He is charged with the unauthorised use of a car at Annaloughan in Jenkinstown in the early hours of 25 March. The car was later involved in a collision with another vehicle.
George Campbell, 64, from Jenkinstown and Dave Kennan, 17, from Mountpleasant both died in the collision.
It is understood that Mr O'Riordan will not be asked to sign on at a garda station because he is currently in a wheelchair and wearing body plaster, although he will be subject to a curfew.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
