A 35-year-old Dundalk man has appeared in court following the weekend shooting incident in the town.
Robert Duffy from Toberone in the town is charged with having a sawn-off shot gun and two rounds of ammunition in his possession at the Emerald bar, Church Street, Dundalk on the night of 10 March last.
Detective Sgt Frank Doherty told the court he was objecting to bail due to the seriousness of the charges.
He said it would be alleged the defendant went into a pub with a shot gun and fired it twice, seriously injuring one person.
The garda also said he would be worried about the intimidation of witnesses.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
