The Minister for Family & Social Affairs, Séamus Brennan, has called on Opposition parties to 'lay out their stalls' on the issue of occupational pensions before the General Election.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio’s This Week, he said a Green Paper recommendation on pensions will be presented to Cabinet in April.
Mr Brennan said his preferred option was the soft mandatory direction.
This means all workers will have an employer, employee and State contribution made for them with an opt out clause.
93,000 workers in Ireland do not have an occupational pension.
