Three men were killed in separate road accidents in Offaly, Dublin & NI overnight.

Gardaí say they suspect an incident in Tullamore early this morning - in which a man was killed - was a hit-and-run accident.

The man was found at about 4.40am on the roadside at Cappincur, Tullamore in Co Offaly with serious injuries.

He died a short time later. A technical examination is being carried out and diversions are in place.

In a separate incident in Co Dublin, a man was also killed on the M11 at Shankill at about 9pm last night.

Gardaí say the man, who was in his 20s, was fatally injured when the car he was driving struck a pole.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he died a short time later. No other vehicles were involved.

In Northern Ireland, a man was also killed in an accident shortly before midnight last night on Derrytrasna Road outside Lurgan towards Lough Neagh.

Police say it appears the man had been walking home from a local GAA club when he was hit by a vehicle. They say it was not a hit-and-run accident.
