11 people charged in connection with the alleged UK plane bomb plot have appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Eight men were remanded in custody until early September. No application for bail was made by any of those.

The other three were remanded for a week. They included a 17-year-old youth, and the wife of one of the first group of men, whose application for bail was refused.

The judge hearing the case, Timothy Workman, has directed that the media do not publish the addresses of the accused beyond giving the postal code.

The accused were brought in a heavily armed convoy from Paddington Green police station to the court this morning.

Roads have been sealed off in central London and police helicopters are patrolling the skies.

Before today's court sitting, eight of the suspects were charged with conspiracy to murder and preparing acts of terrorism.

11 other suspects are still being questioned at London's high-security Paddington Green Station.

Detectives have until tomorrow to interrogate them before they must be charged, released or have their periods of detention extended.
