A crewman who was injured on board the US naval vessel 'The Sullivans' has been airlifted to hospital in Cork.
The man was injured in an accident on board the vessel when it was 96 miles southwest of the Cork coast.
The Shannon-based Coastguard helicopter arrived at the vessel at 6.30pm and the man was admitted to Cork University Hospital an hour later.
Earlier, a 74-year-old man who fell off a cliff at Lahinch, Co Clare, was airlifted to University College Hospital Galway.
The man, believed to be a well known local businessman, was walking near the shoreline about a mile south of Lahinch, Co Clare when he is understood to have fallen.
He managed to use his mobile phone to contact his family who then raised the alarm.
Elsewhere, four people were rescued when a speedboat sank on Lough Derg.
The four on board the boat were rescued by the Killaloe lifeboat this evening.
