Gardaí are continuing to question two teenagers in connection with a shooting incident, in which a 21-year-old man was injured in north Dublin last night.

A 17-year old man, arrested this morning, is being questioned by gardaí in Santry, while a 19-year-old who was arrested a few hours later is being questioned at Whitehall Garda Station.

Gardaí say the victim answered a knock at the door to his home at Cromcastle Court, Kilmore West in Coolock at around 11.20am when he was shot at least twice.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Earlier, a senior officer told RTÉ that gardaí are making headway in their investigations into recent fatal shootings and that developments are expected soon.

Chief Superintendent Peter Maguire said he believed those involved in gun crime are localised drug dealers and he called on politicians and elected representatives to encourage their communities to co-operate more with the gardaí in the fight against organised crime.
